All About Trout

Did you know that Blue Ridge is the trout capital of Georgia? It is true and inescapable if you just venture downtown. Among other indicators are sculptures of trout peppered throughout the area. But you also can find anything you need to enjoy some time indulging in this pastime.

If you want a high-end fly rod or are in the zone for making your own, head over to Oyster Fine Bamboo Fly Rods. Apparently even President Jimmy Carter has one!

Going It Alone

If you prefer to venture out on your own, download  a fishing map from the Chamber of Commerce if you don't already have one. 

You may want to stop at the Rum Cake Lady to grab some food for a day out. If you like authentic cuban sandwiches, we highly recommend this place.

A Different Perspective

You may want to enjoy the river from another vantage point. If so, try the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. It will take you along the northern portion of the Toccoa River to the Tennessee Line in McCaysville. It is a leisurely, beautiful ride.

At The End Of The Day

Chances are, you may find yourself down on the south end of Toccoa River at some point. If that happens to be around meal time, check out Toccoa River Restaurant which sits right at the water's edge.
